| East River Neurology, PC is an office established by Dr. Katarzyna Jakubowska-Sadowska, M.D., Ph.D. (see Meet Dr Sadowska and serving patients with neurological problems in the New York Metro and Tristate area. Our services in Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens include all areas of general neurology with special interest in multiple sclerosis, headache and migraine, dizziness, vertigo, memory and balance problems as well as pain treatment (see Specialty section of this website) We utilize conventional treatments, Botox injections, nerve blocks and trigger point injections combined with complementary modalities like acupuncture, supplements and herbal remedies, especially in the treatment of headaches, pain and peripheral neuropathies. We offer onsite nerve testing (nerve conduction and EMG electromyography), EEG (electroencephalography; brain wave study), and VNG (videonystagmography, vestibular and balance testing). I am a Neurologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system and pain problems. Treatment is based upon a holistic approach through individual, personalized care given to each patient via a combination of the most modern western medicine techniques together with, when needed, complimentary medicine of the eastern traditions. You can see that “West meets East” philosophy through my educational path. I hold a Ph.D. degree in anatomy of the brain, have completed Neurology Residency training in New York University Medical Center and Multiple Sclerosis and Demyelinating Disorders Fellowship in NYU Multiple Sclerosis Center. After my clinical training, I also became a licensed acupuncturist with training from both, NYU and University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China. In “East River Neurology,” there is a rare “West meets East” treatment philosophy which is a direct result of my educational path, a path in which my primary goal is to achieve the best possible care for my patients. Whenever applicable, I combine conventional medicine with complementary modalities such as acupuncture and herbal remedies and supplements. I believe that teamwork and communication between the patient and physician are crucial for a successful treatment. An educated patient can substantially contribute to better understanding of the problem and better outcome.
